Sunday I managed to plant two rows of garlic. I chose an organic Spring planting variety called
Flavour, because it was the only one on offer from the
Organic Gardening Catalogue. I'll see how it compares with other, non-organic, varieties I've grown before.
and a second row of broad beans
In the afternoon hubby planted the Victoria plum tree we
bought at Wisley last weekend, adding plenty of grit and humus to the planting hole first and watering it well afterwards.
Looks great Karin - we grow garlic amongst our shrubs, one of the few foods the slugs & snails don't bother with!
ReplyDeleteGood luck with it.
Kay :)
True, slugs and snails don't seem to go for garlic, Kay. How does your garlic do amongst shrubs? I think they need plenty of moisture and sunlight to do well and I'm imagining shrubs with lots of roots soaking up the water around them and lots of branches blocking out the sunlight, but perhaps they are not planted too closely together.
